The real time strategy game may be a download-only game, but that's not stopping the development team from implementing a LBP-esque level editor. To ensure the in-game editor works as well as it should, the team has created the entire game using the tool. "Having built all our levels using a PS3 controller led to constant improvements in both the interface and the control scheme so that our level artists wouldn't feel constrained by the input device," the development blog notes.

With the release of the game's first trailer (above), it's clear Under Siege is getting closer to release. Expect much more on it in the coming months.


Developer Seed Studios is prepping a "real-time tactics" game for the PlayStation Network called Under Siege.
it's a pretty slick looking PSN exclusive that includes a robust sounding level editor. Under Siege ditches the resource management to focus on combat. There will be a single-player campaign and split-screen multiplayer, although details on the multiplayer game haven't been revealed, yet.

"Under Siege features an original world, unique gameplay elements and a control scheme designed with a console controller in mind," says lead designer Bruno Ribeiro. "We are also working on implementing a large number of multiplayer and community features with special emphasis on user generated content."

Players are going to have access to the same editor the developers are using to create the game, LittleBigPlanet-style.
